About

7__320x240_kpkes_hide_img_6414 Peter Kes is a computer specialist with a passion for nature, birds and photography. I worked for a number of large corporations in the IT professional field. For many years my hobby concentrated mainly around birding and updating lifer lists. The camera was never far away, but my photography skills were not close to being satisfactory. Plus, coming home with 30 film and discovering that 90% was bin-ripe made it all the more dis-encouraging. Until 2007, when Arthur Morris materialised and launched a bird-photographers site, BPN, with as a main focus, a learning and sharing platform for photographers. That, combined with affordable, digital SLR cameras, made me enter and focus more on bird-photography. Great to be able to see in the field what you did in the camera’s back display, no more waiting until you get back home. The world of photography has changed. Great software to manipulate and enhance your digital work added the second dimension..

Since then my main focus has become photography and try and escape as much as possible to practice and enjoy this hobby. Recently I have organised a number of picture exhibitions, showing pictures them and selling them. The year at BPN has been worth all its time and money. Imagine to register for any service in the market and you pay just US$20 and you get the advice and guidance of the crême-de-la-crême (the world professional top) in photography: it is unmatched. And as you will see in this blog, I have grown in just over a year and feel so much more at ease and get so much more satisfaction from photography.
