We live near the city of Basel on the edge of a forest area, where we take our dogs for regular walks. It is an area with agriculture, small wild and protected pools and forest. In late spring the linseed fields are in full bloom.

The area used to be covered with cherry trees and walnut trees. Due to better yields from harvesting crop, many trees disappeared. Some of them are still there and are growing to large trees. Here a walnut tree I photographed from the base up and turned the image into a black-and-white.

On a few isolated spots, pools are maintained and protected, where small wildlife gets a chance to thrive. Many wild flowers attract a lot of insects. This butterfly patiently waited and allowed me to get close for a nice image.

When the sun sets the clouds and the sun sometimes present a stunning play of light.

A few days ago as I walked the dogs for their last evening walk, I almost bumped into this boar. Fortunately he was behind a farmer’s fence so I was not at risk of a direct attack. The boar however was quite feisty and when I approached the fence to take a photograph, he charged forward as to say ‘mind your own business’.

I really like black and white conversion of the walnut tree. Looks like a great place to call home.
